I remember vividly the first time I came to Flagler Beach, Florida. From Charleston, it seemed like a short drive, punctuated by a couple of restroom breaks and food runs, until finally we arrived. Where we had arrived, I wasn't quite sure. A quiet place, Flager seemed like one of those towns out of a scary movie (I was expecting the eerie music at any time), but I would quickly change my mind. Settling in, I took a break unpacking the car to go walk along the beach. That was a mistake, because as soon as I stepped in the soft sand of the beach, I fell instantly in love. Whipping my camera out of my pocket, I used the opportunity to snap off hundreds of photos of the picturesque landscapes, the scattered gellotinous jellyfishes on the beach, and my best friend walking alongside of me. I was having a blast, but I had to constantly remind myself that it was only the first day...
I used the rest of my weeklong vacation to relax; the greatest thing to do in Flagler. The locals are nice, the food even better, and the atmosphere just screams to be enjoyed -- from the antique cars to the overstocked bookstore, there is something for everyone in Flager. Not the biggest fan of physical activity, even I had fun exploring the city on two wheels as I raced up and down the bridge and through the streets on my bike. It goes without saying that I had an incredible vacation. Although I haven't been back to Flagler since, I would jump on the opportunity to revisit some fond memories!
